The week will include a special unveiling in “Merle’s Bar” from guest of honour Merle Thornton, who led a defiant women’s liberation protest at Regatta Hotel in 1965, a moment that became ingrained in the nation’s history as one of the first feminist insurgency movements. Famed restaurateur to join new executive chef at Regatta Boatshed

Regatta Hotel today announced famed Brisbane restaurateur Michael Platsis, of Michael’s Riverside, and celebrated executive chef Daniel Fleming would be leading the Regatta Boatshed restaurant, marking an exciting new era for Queensland’s Hotel of the Year. Mr Platsis has been a well-known fixture in Brisbane’s dining scene since opening Michael’s Riverside in 1996, a fine dining restaurant in the Brisbane Riverside precinct that catered for celebrities like Mick Jagger, Rod Stewart and Bono until 2007.
