Love is on display at Regatta Hotel, with the recent installation of a new cultural wall featuring artwork by renowned photographer Justine Walpole as part of the hotel’s new autumn look.

Justine, who specialises in contemporary portraiture and live performance, has worked with a wide variety of famous faces, including Geoffrey Rush, Cameron Diaz and the late Heath Ledger.

Justine’s most recent project has been working with legendary music icon, Prince.

Regatta Hotel manager, Zoran Stojcevski, said Justine’s work was the perfect blend of edgy and vibrant for the courtyard area of the hotel.

“We loved Justine’s work straight away,” Mr Stojcevski said.

“Her style is incredibly diverse and we felt her latest series would also suit our new autumn décor.”

Although Justine currently resides in Burleigh Heads, she was a Brisbane local for twenty years.

Justine said that she was very proud to have her photographs displayed in one of the most visible areas of the Regatta Hotel.

“The Regatta is a beautiful Brisbane landmark and it is a perfect installation space for the photographs,” she said.

“I hope Regatta customers view the imagery and feel uplifted or inspired in some way.”

The series of photographs was inspired by Justine’s enthusiasm for exploring the laneways that run through the heart of a city and contemplates the theme of love and impermanence within the urban landscape.

“I am always on a photographic treasure hunt – to look beyond the bright lights of a city and into the shadows,” she said.

“Graffiti is so thought provoking and unique; you can see who’s come before you and what was happening at a specific point in time.

“In this case, the word ‘love’ followed me everywhere.”
