Famed restaurateur to join new executive chef at Regatta Boatshed

Regatta Hotel today announced famed Brisbane restaurateur Michael Platsis, of Michael’s Riverside, and celebrated executive chef Daniel Fleming would be leading the Regatta Boatshed restaurant, marking an exciting new era for Queensland’s Hotel of the Year.

Mr Platsis has been a well-known fixture in Brisbane’s dining scene since opening Michael’s Riverside in 1996, a fine dining restaurant in the Brisbane Riverside precinct that catered for celebrities like Mick Jagger, Rod Stewart and Bono until 2007.

In 2001, Mr Platsis was awarded a prestigious Centenary Medal for his contribution to Queensland industry and commerce.

Regatta Hotel also welcomes new Executive Chef Daniel Fleming, who moved from Adelaide for the position after working as executive chef for some of the most prestigious hotels in South Australia, including Stamford and Hilton.

Regatta Hotel General Manager Zoran Stojcevski said the appointments were fitting for a hotel about to enter its 140th year of operation as Queensland’s “Hotel of the Year”, as judged by Queensland Hotels Association.

“These new appointments will soon enable us to provide our guests with new menus across all of the different areas of the hotel, as well as new and improved levels of service and value,” Mr Stojcevski said.

“We attribute our success of being named Queensland’s Hotel of the Year to the passionate and experienced people in our team.

“If we are going to set our sights on being named Australia’s Hotel of the Year, we will need to continue to grow our business with people like Michael and Daniel to ensure we have a strong team of experts driving our business into a new era.”
