ANZAC Day at the Regatta Hotel
The Regatta Hotel was privileged to have been a part of the planning for the Toowong Dawn Service at Memorial Hill this year, alongside Wests Rugby Club, Councillor Peter Matic and the Toowong sub-branch RSL. The service took place at 4:30am on the newly updated memorial hill where Regatta’s General Manager, Rob, was invited to lay a wreath.

Following the beautiful service, guests were warmed up with coffee from the Regatta’s Grinders coffee cart and invited back to the Regatta for post-dawn service breakfast as the sun rose over the river.
After the post-dawn service breakfast, the Regatta team busily prepared for the rest of the day, There was six different pavlovas to choose from, a special ANZAC Day in-house spiced rum, ANZAC biccies and, of course, Two Up hosted by Mark ‘Dobbo’ Dobson from Triple M. We were joined by members of the armed forces throughout the day including the Queensland University Regiment (who deserved a cold drink after helping load and unload all of Regatta’s chairs that were used at the service), as well as many new and old faces. BenJam provided the perfect live music in the Courtyard following Two Up and the merriment continued well into the evening.
We were pleased to make a donation to the Toowong sub-branch RSL and we are honoured to have such a close relationship with the club. Thank you to everyone who attended the dawn service and who joined us on ANZAC Day. Thank you also to our local Councillor Peter Matic and his office, West’s Rugby Club, Queensland University Regiment and Toowong sub-branch for your tireless efforts in organising such a succesful dawn service.
